This hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop introduces students to the fundamentals of DJing. From understanding the equipment and music structure to practicing basic transitions, students will leave with a foundational understanding of how to build and perform a basic DJ set using modern gear and software.

  • Identify key components of a DJ setup (controller, mixer, software)
  • Understand music structure: BPM, phrasing, bars, and keys
  • Perform basic transitions using EQ and volume control
  • Create and perform a short DJ set using 4–6 songs
  • Gain confidence with DJ software and hardware basics

Participants should bring the following:

  • a personal laptop
  • USB drive (optional)
  • a short playlist of 6 – 10 favorite songs
  • headphones (optional)
