- How To Get Your Unit Involved
-
Unit leadership will coordinate all WAQ activities for their respective platoon’s by reaching out to a WAQ program specialist to request an Activity Request Form. When filling out the request form and before submission, please keep in mind the following:
- The number of personnel listed on the request form needs to be a static number prior to the requesting of your event. How ever many people are listed is how many we expect to show up to the event.
- As this is considered a military appointment, and is supposed to go on your unit’s training calendar, each activity request form needs to be signed off on by your Company Commander
- All personnel will be expected to show up ready to participate because this event is considered your place of duty for the day.

What is Warrior Adventure Quest?
Warrior Adventure Quest is a Department of the Army initiative to provide high-adventure outdoor recreation programs as part of team building and the Army’s holistic approach to RESET. WAQ is designed to re-create the adrenaline rush of combat action in a supervised, controlled, high adventure activity which is supervised by FMWR Outdoor recreation staff. WAQ instills cohesion, builds teamwork and maintains combat readiness through high-adventure activities. This program enables Soldiers to reach a “new stage of normal” by diminishing boredom and high-risk behavior, through outdoor recreation and an L-LAAD Debriefing. Soldiers will be able to draw similarities between the adventure activity and their Warrior experiences.
How much does it cost to participate in the Warrior Adventure Quest?
The WAQ program is offered free of charge to units and will ideally be utilized 120-day pre or post deployment.
How much notice for cancellation?
Confirmation that your unit will be not participating in the event will need to be given at least 18 hours in advance and we need to have an email notification coming from the Battalion Commander explaining the reason of the mission requirements, as this is considered a military function and resiliency training.
Is there anything else required of my unit once we reserve the dates for our activities?
There are 3 things required prior to event:
- The participating unit will also be required to provide an NCOIC and OIC to conduct a Leader Led After Action Debriefing (L-LAAD). The requirements of the L-LAAD will be discussed with a WAQ Program Specialist at our in-person training, held every other Monday of a month at 0900 (except on federal holidays). Our dates are planned through the rest of the calendar year, and you will need to attend any one session prior to your WAQ activity.
- Participating soldiers are required to take training regarding the Warrior Adventure Quest prior to their activity. Unit leaders will be given the materials to provide soldiers with this mandatory training regarding the Warrior Adventure Quest prior to their activities.
- An Attendance Roster is also required. Included in the attendance roster should be: First and Last name of participating soldier, and their rank.
